BMW i8 Pricing Information
Since the BMW i8 is still over a year away from production, BMW has released few concrete details about the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle.
However, according to BMW head of sales and marketing, Ian Robertson, the BMW i8 is expected to cost more than US$122,800 (€100,000 or GB£78,000).
“It is a super sports car and will be priced accordingly,” said Robertson. “The final price isn’t decided but it will be priced up there with similar machinery.”
BMW announced it will build the all new 3 cylinder engine for the i8 extended range electric sports car at its Hams Hall plant near Birmingham, England.
The new three-cylinder petrol engines will enable our future BMW i8 plug-in hybrid sports car to set new standards for dynamic performance in combination with industry-leading fuel efficiency.
Acceleration of the BMW i8 sports coupe is said to be under 5 seconds, and fuel consumption on the European cycle will be around 65 MPG.
The all electric range is around 20 miles, and the battery pack can be recharged in as little as 2 hours using a 240V power source.
