I read an interesting article on USAToday talking about how electric vehicles depreciate faster than gasoline powered vehicles. Partially due to the federal tax incentives driving prices lower, and partially because of battery depletion issues. In reality, however, it's all hearsay because there are no electric vehicles that are 8 years old yet (which is when the battery warranty expires).

According to Kelly Blue Book, plug-in hybrids will depreciate only marginally faster than their gasoline counterparts. I guess that's a good thing for the i8! Since it has a relatively small battery pack, cost of replacement should be fairly low, when or if the pack needs replacing.
